Back when Goose was learning to walk, I would walk her around with her holding onto my hands. She was up moving, but I also walked around with constant back pain for doing that. Until I came upon the Juppy Baby Walker.
Never heard of it? That's ok, I hadn't either until Goose started started trying to walk. However, if you have a kid who is not walking yet or just started walking holding onto stuff, then you need to listen up.
The Juppy Baby Walker is made almost like a traditional baby walker, but better. A traditional baby walker lets the baby walk/roll around the floor with our without a parent/caregiver present. What I like about the Juppy is it allow children to experience the independence of walking alone, but still puts the parent there at arms reach.
Now, you may say to yourself "OMG it's a crotch dangler", well, it's not, and here's why: A crotch dangler would mean that the baby would be dangling by his/her "bits", letting the legs hang straight down like with the poorly designed baby carriers and the dreadful "Johnny Jump Ups". This is not the case with the Juppy. The Juppy is not made to carry your baby; it is made to help support some of the baby's weight making it a little easier to balance and walk.
The Juppy Baby Walker company actually sent me a Juppy Momentum to try out last week. This baby walker is like the Cadillac of baby walkers, and is a little different than the original one that I had. Below are some photos I took comparing the two side by side.
As you can see, the basic design is the same, just a few thing have changed making it better. There are a few more safety features added like the velcro straps on the back, and a couple of comfort features like the covers for the straps.
So, what do I think? I love the Juppy. It really helped Goose walk on her own. Would I recommend the Juppy to other parents? Yes, in fact, I have.
