When I was in elementary school, our school started providing us with planners that we could write homework due dates, school events, tests dates, and help us start keeping a schedule of our daily lives. I didn't understand then, why an academic planner was any use, and it was so annoying to me because it had to be signed by a parent every night. By the time I was in high school, the school system I was in had done away with them all together, and my study habits were a complete mess. I was so glad to see that the academic planners were coming back, and now even easier to use. My favorite planner was developed by Leslie Josel and Order Out of Chaos®
Leslie is a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers and an expert in chronic disorganization so, she know a thing or two about how to keep people organized.
The front of the organizer is a nice laminated thick card stock paper.
The first page you see when you open up the Academic Planner is a sheet for the information of the person the organizer belongs to.
The next page in the 2013-2014 planner is the August calender. This page is a little different, because that is the last page that is a full page. On the left hand side of this page there is a column that has places where you can pencil in your class schedule, and there are is times for after school activities.
I would definitely use pencil in that left hand column because you use that same column all year long. As you can see in the photo below it is the same column.
Next, you can see that you have the subject column on the left hand side, but then you have columns for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and so on across the page. Each day there are blocks for each subject where you can write in, and then smaller blocks for after school activities. I don't know if you can see by my terrible photos, but the days also have the date beside them.
The last page in the book is really nice. It is a plastic pocket so your student can keep important papers for parents or maybe something that is important to them.
I really like these academic planners, and they are so much better than what we had in school.
If you would like to get one of these amazing planners for your little (or big) kid you can do so on Order Out of Chaos' website here: http://orderoochaos.com/shopproducts#!/~/product/category=5059090&id=21117059
They come in four different colors: Blue Kaleidoscope, White Out, Grey Stripes (like mine pictured above), and Bright Waves (which is currently sold out). The planner is normally $19.99 but is on sale right now for $15, and I feel that this is a very good investment for your student.
I want to thank Order Out of Chaos for providing me with one of their Academic Planners free of charge. Even though, they provided me with a free product, these opinions are 100% my own, and I was in no way compensated monetarily for this review. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
