Gurin Electric Compact Dehumidifier Review

A few months ago, my family and I moved into a new home.  The move was great, and we love the house.  However a few things unexpected happened when we moved in.

The one problem we've had is the humidity levels in the house.  East TN is known for warm humid summers, and our new 1940's house seems to hold onto that moisture (plus the basement leaks when it rains, but that's another story).  So we went searching for the perfect dehumidifier.  We found a great whole house one at Home Depot, but we worried about the bathroom.  The one bathroom in our house had no exhaust fan.  We could open the window when the shower was on, but I was a little worried about privacy and the fact that fall was on it's way.  That's when I saw the Gurin Electric Compact Dehumidifier.

This dehumidifier seemed like the perfect solution to our small bathroom.  It's pretty quiet, has the perfect size tank for the small room, and it's easy to empty.

The only problem we've had is the dehumidifier started out extremely quiet, but over the past few weeks has gotten a little louder.  The noise seems louder right after we empty the tank.  Not sure what's going on there.

Overall, I would recommend the Gurin electric compact dehumidifier to those who have small rooms that have a humidity problem, but if you are looking for something for a large room or whole house, look for something else.  This one just won't cut it.
